Google has decided to squeeze itself into yet another market as it has announced its newest WiFi router, the Google OnHub.
Developed in partnership with TP-Link, the OnHub is described by Google as a router that is simple to setup, designed for the home as it looks good enough not to be hidden away and pretty much does everything on its own so it is also maintenance-free.
Supporting 802.11b/g/n/ac at 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the OnHub has circular array of 13 antennas so it should provide a decent WiFi signal. It also searches airwaves an selects the best channel for the fastest connection, prioritize a device or devices that you are using frequently and even automatically updates with new features and latest security upgrades.
The OnHub also comes with with a simple Google On mobile app, which runs on Android OS and iOS and lets you check how much bandwidth your devices are using, lets you run a network check and offers suggestions to help in case you have an issue with your WiFi. It also allows you to send your password to friends with a single tap.
OnHub is available for pre-order for $199.99 from online retailers in the U.S. including the Google Store, Amazon, and Walmart but we are still waiting for European availability details.
