Basemark Web 3.0 browser benchmark announced

Benchmark for all browsers

Basemark has announced its newest benchmark for testing modern browsers, the Basemark Web 3.0.

Not longer being a part of Rightware, Basemark has now released a new benchmark that will be a successor of the Browsermark product lineup and is capable of benchmarking any modern browser, including testing of the new WebGL 2.0 API.

Coming in three different suites including Core Suite, which includes low-level JavaScript calculations (ECMAScript) and designed to test the core of JavaScript, Graphics Suite, which are graphics intensive WebGL 1.0.2 and WebGL 2.0 and Generic Suite which uses test built with popular JavaScript frameworks.

In addition to these three suites, Basemark Web 3.0 will also offer a Conformance Suite, which doesn’t contribute to overall score, but tests the browser’s conformance.

According to Basemark's Founder and CEO, Tero Sarkkinen, the Basemark Web 3.0 will work on pretty much any device or operating system and support virtually all modern browsers.

The Basemark Web 3.0 will be available in four different versions, Free Version, Community Version for open source projects, Professional Version, for a bit more detailed testing and Corporate Version for corporate customers which has an ability to run on servers.

According to Basemark, the new Basemark Web 3.0 will be available by the end of this year and the company is promising more details as well as a few new surprises later this week.
