Core i7-6700K overclocked to 5.2 GHz at 1.35V

And then there was another leak

As the launch of Intels Skylake processors is coming closer, more leaks are making it into the internet. This time it's the guys from HKEPC who overclocked an Intel Core i7-6700K. They've been using aircooling and they were capable of pushing the CPU to 5.2 GHz.

It looks like the new Skylake processors from Intel can be overclocked quite well. The Core i7-6700K HKEPC from Hong-Kong had at hand could be pushed to 5.2 GHz, while being driven at only 1.35 volt and aircooling. The is an impressive result and we're definitely looking forward to see what the retail CPUs can do.

The Intel Core i7-6700K runs at a stock clock of 4.0 GHz and a Turbo clock of 4.2 GHz. Apart from that these CPUs support DDR4 2133 MHz. Furthermore Intel has reworked the the integrated GPU and there is now the so called GT2 graphics chip, which comes with 24 execution units and 350 MHz base clock as well as 1250 MHz Turbo clock. Apart from that these GPUs also support DirectX 12. Compared to that the i7-4790K had 20 execution units and the same maximum clocks of 1250 MHz. This means that Intel might have greatly improved the instructions per clock cycle (IPC) regarding the integrated graphics unit.

It looks like Skylake is really going to be an interesting CPU. The closer we come to the launch tme more we want to find out ourselves what these CPUs can do.
