We already know that Intel is set to introduce its Skylake-S K-series desktop CPUs at Gamecom 2015 show in August. Today we have some fresh information regarding those CPUs and it appears these will be sold without stock cooler offering users a choice to pick their own third party solution.

While it wont have a stock cooler for the new Skylake-S K-series desktop CPUs, Intel will offer two coolers as an option, including the high performance air cooler, that is capable of dissipating up to 130W as well as a high performance liquid cooling solution, also aimed at 130W TDP CPUs.

Since upcoming Skylake-S K-series CPUs, including the Core i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K, both have the same 95W TDP, these two CPU coolers will leave enough headroom for some overclocking as well.

In case you missed them earlier, Skylake-S series will include a total of ten different CPUs, with two K-series CPUs, the COre i7-6700K and the Core i5-6600K. Both will be quad-core solutions with unlocked multiplier and 95W TDP. The flagship Core i7-6700K will work at 4.0GHz with 4.2GHz Turbo Boost, have 8MB of cache and support HyperThreading while the Core i5-6600K will work at 3.5GHz base clock with 3.9GHz Turbo Boost, lack HyperThreading support and pack 6MB of cache.

It is a definitely a welcomed move that Intel has decided to ship its Skylake-S K-series CPUs without stock CPU cooler as most enthusiasts will rather go for a third party solution and it should not add to the cost of the CPU.
