AMD announces Fiji based Radeon Fury lineup

A total of four graphics cards coming

In addition to the new Radeon 300 series graphics cards, which are pretty much rebrands of the existing Radeon 200 series lineup with slight improvements, AMD has also unveiled its new flagship lineup, the Fiji GPU based Fury lineup which will feature no less than four different graphics cards.

While we still do not have full details regarding most of the lineup, which AMD is expected to unveil in near future, we do know that AMD Radeon Fury lineup will feature four different products, the AMD Radeon R9 Fury, Radeon R9 Fury X, Radeon R9 Nano and the Radeon R9 Fury X2, based on two Fiji XT GPUs.

While we still do not know the details regarding the Radeon R9 Fury Fiji Pro GPU, which should be available on July 14th with a price tag of US $549, we do have full details regarding the Radeon R9 Fury X, based on Fiji XT GPU. This one will pack 4096 Stream Processors, 256 TMUs and 64 ROPs as well as work at 1050MHz for the GPU and pack 4GB of High Bandwidth Memory clocked at 500MHz and paired up with a 4096-bit memory interface, for a total memory bandwidth of 512GB/s.

Although still not confirmed, the Radeon R9 Fury X2 should be based on two Fiji XT GPUs so expect similar specifications as on the R9 Fury X, probably with slightly lower GPU clocks. The dual-Fiji based R9 Fury X2 will be coming in fall this year. The PCB for the Radeon R9 Fury X2 has been pictured and it looks way shorter than the R9 295 X2 PCB, since it does not need additional room for memory chips.

The Radeon R9 Fury is a big unknown and is the most interesting graphics card as it could hit the sweet spot with performance per buck. It is expected to be available on July 14th, be air-cooled and have a price tag of US $549.

The most interesting graphics card in the lineup is a 6-inch (15.24cm) long Radeon R9 Nano. Probably based on the Fiji Pro GPU, it should offer 2x performance per watt compared to the Radeon R9 290 series, which is a great achievement considering that Fury X packs 1.5x performance per watt improvement over last generation. The Radeon R9 Nano is expected to be available in summer with yet to be details price.

While AMD has officially unveiled its new flagship Radeon Fury lineup we are still waiting for some benchmarks as with such aggressive pricing and recently rumored performance, AMD's Fury lineup will put a lot of pressure on Nvidia's Geforce lineup.
