AMD Fiji GPU spotted at Computex 2015 show

Just the GPU

AMD Fiji GPU has finally made its public appearance as AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, stepped on to the stage with a rather large GPU with 4 stacks of High Bandwidth Memory.

Currently referred to as the Radeon R9 Fury, according to some rumors as the Fury X, the GPU was showcased during AMD's press conference at Computex 2015 show. What is quite interesting is that AMD did not show the actual graphics card but just the GPU.

AMD is probably waiting for its own event scheduled for June 16th and simply did not want to reveal more during Computex 2015. Interestingly enough, even AMD AIB partners are behaving and we are only hearing a couple of rumors regarding it.

According to new rumors caught by Wccftech.com, AMD's R9 Fury is currently slower than the GTX 980 Ti as AMD is still tweaking drivers and clocks so partners will have a tough time getting ready for the June 16th launch date.

There are still a lot of unknowns on how the HBM will actually behave and how big will be the performance gain with such memory. In any case, we are certainly looking forward to June 16th.
