Angelbird, a company from Austria which is mostly known for its line of SSDs for Mac systems as well as portable SSDs, came to Computex 2015 with quite a few new products, including its SSD2go pocket lineup as well as new Wings PCI-Express SSD lineup.
Already available is the SSD2go pocket lineup which is fast, safe and also stylish, according to Angelbird. Available in plenty of different colors and in capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB and also available with free engraving in case you want to further personalize it, these offer sustained read and write speed of up to 450MB/s and up to 390MB/s with random 4K performance of up to 38800 IOPS.
What is quite interesting is that Angelbird uses full-size standard USB 3.0 type A connector on the SSD2go pocket which is, according to Angelbird, more reliable than microUSB one. It also comes with robust aluminum CNC machined casing with hard anodised surface, making it a bit more rugged compared to other solutions on the market. Starting at €169.90, these are not cheap but with such performance it is definitely worth it.
In addition to the SSD2go lineup, Angelbird showcased its upcoming Wings PCI-Express lineup with Wings MX2 and Wings X2. While still not available, new Wings PCI-Express SSD lineup from Angelbird will offer plenty of performance and be available in capacities of up to 16TB. Reserved for high-end market, these will be quite interesting to professionals.
In any case, we will keep an eye on new Angelbird lineup and hopefully we will have a chance to check them out in our lab.
