Windows 10 could be the last version

Moving to a different approach

Microsoft's Windows 10 OS might be the latest version of Windows, at least according to Microsoft's developer Jerry Nixon.

While talking during the Ignite conference, Jerry Nixon, known as Microsoft developer evangelist, said that "Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10.”¸

It is highly unlikely that Microsoft will be quiting on the operating system market, but more likely means that Microsoft will change the way it launches Windows version every year or couple of years but rather focus on updates and new features to the existing version of Windows.

Since Microsoft practically separated its operating system into individual apps so certain parts of the operating system can be updated or changed without changing the entire system.

In an interview with The Verge, Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that the company will change the approach to Windows OS launch by saying that "Recent comments at Ignite about Windows 10 are reflective of the way Windows will be delivered as a service bringing new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner, with continuous value for our consumer and business customers.”
