Kingston unveils HyperX FURY SSD at Computex 2014

Entry level SSD for gamers

Kingston's HyperX lineup features a few products for the enthusiast market sector as well as for those who love the DIY. After unveiling the HyperX FURY DDR3 modules, Kingston decided to use the Computex 2014 to unveil the new member of its Kingston HyperX SSD lineup, the Kingston HyperX FURY SSD.

The Kingston HyperX FURY SSD will be available only in two capacities for now, 120GB and 240GB, and be backed by a 3 year warranty.

It features SATA III interface and is based on a 2.5-inch 7mm thick form factor. It also comes bundled with a 9mm thick adapter to make it easier to install. The Kingston HyperX FURY SSD series will be based on the LSI SandForce SF-2281 controller, and be able to reach 500MB/s for both both read and write sequential performance, while the random 4k performances will go as high as 79.000/72.500 IOPS. These sound like decent results, but far from impressive.

We still do not know how much these models will cost, but Kingston said they are going to be cheap, since they are designed for the enthusiast on a budget and gamers as well. Hopefully, Kingston will shed more details soon so we will keep you posted.
