ASUS joins the Steam Machines fun at Computex 2014

With two new ROG branded gaming SSF rigs

During its Computex 2014 press event, ASUS has announced its vision for the Valve's Steam Machines that will be, surprisingly, launched under the Republic of Gamers brand, the GR8 and the G20 systems.

The lineup starts with a "console-size" ASUS ROG GR8 system which features a rather impressive looking design and will pack, according to ASUS, the PC power, with Core i7 CPU and Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti GPU, in a console size 2.5L chassis. Although it did not want to share much details regarding the system itself due to the fact that Valve has delayed the Steam Machines, it did note that the ASUS ROG GR8 system will feature SupremeFX audio, 4K/UHD support, Miracast receiver and AC WiFi, upgradeable storage, Intel LAN with Gamefirst III tech as well as cool, quiet and efficient performance with 23dB in idle and 28dB noise under load.

The second ROG branded Steam Machines SFF rig is a bit more serious, and larger, ROG G20 gaming PC which will pack Intel's Core i7 quad-core CPU paired up with Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 GPU packed in a 12.5L chassis. It also follows recognizable ROG design and definitely looks impressive. The ROG G20 will have a similar high-end cooling system which should keep the noise levels at 25dB.

The specifications of both systems are not carved in stone as ASUS can easily change them as both systems are scheduled for Q3 this year. On the other hand, we definitely like the look and direction in which ASUS is going with Steam Machines and these might be one of the best looking ones on the market and have no trouble taking on Alienware's vision of the Steam Machines.
