ASUS announces ROG GX500 notebook at Computex 2014

15.6-inch gaming notebook with 4K/UHD panel

The 4K/UHD craze is definitely heating up as it is slowly becoming the next big thing in gaming which probably led ASUS to announce its newest 15.6-inch 4K/UHD Republic of Gamers GX500 notebook at Computex 2014.

Based and designed around a 15.6-inch 4K/UHD 3840x2160 screen, the ROG GX500 packs Intel's Core i7 CPU paired up with Nvidia GTX 860M GPU. While it might not be the most powerful GPU on the market it will pack enough punch to drive some of those games at decent level of detail on its native resolution. ASUS has not gone into precise details regarding the ROG GX500 specifications as we guess that there will be quite a few different SKUs but it did note that this one will feature M.2 PCIe 4x SSD for storage as well as feature world's first factory color calibrated screen.

ASUS actually managed to packs quite a decent specification list in a rather small chassis considering that the ROG GX500 is just 19mm thick and 2.2kg heavy. ASUS has also announced that the new ROG GX500 notebook will also feature a dual-fan cooling system which should keep the entire system well cooled and silent.

While it did not reveal any official details regarding the price or the availability date, ASUS representatives noted that this one should start at around US $1800 and climb up to US $2000 depending on the configuration and that we could see it in late September or early October.
