Gigabyte has unveiled a rather unique looking micro-server mini-ITX form-factor motherboard which feature an embedded eight-core Intel Atom C2750 Avoton CPU, the Gigabyte GA-9SISL.


The heart of the new mini-ITX GA-9SISL micro-server motherboard is Intel's eight-core Atom C2750 Avoton CPU based on Silvermont architecture, clocked at 2.4GHz with 2.6GHz Turbo Boost, packs 4MB of L2 cache and has 20W TDP.

The rest of the specifications include four DDR3 DIMM slots with support for up to 32GB of DDR3-1600 memory in dual-channel mode, single PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, four SATA 3GBps and two SATA 6Gbps ports, D-Sub output and an Intel N354 network controller with four Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as a fifth one provided by the ASpeed AST2400 chip for remote management.

While it sounds like an impressive rig for home NAS, the high price of the CPU, set at around US $170 for 1000 units, takes it far out of that price range and makes it more suitable for other professional server usage. Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not shed any details regarding the precise launch date or the price.
