HTC Desire 616 with Octa Core Chip

MediaTek Soc with Mali-450MP GPU

With the Desire 616 HTC seems to have a new octa core smartphone in its portfolio. A closer look at data listed by Teena, which is Chinas telecommunications regulation administration, there are not only pictures but also specifications on this upcoming smartphone.

Regarding dimensions, the new HTC Desire 616 measures 71.9 x 142 x 9.1 millimeter (WxHxD) and weighs 150 gram. Inside there is an octa core SoC in combination with a Mali 450MP graphics unit, whereas the entire SoC is being manufactured by MediaTek. Other than that there is one gigabyte memory as well as a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

A closer look at storage reveals there is only four gigabyte but at least there is an MicroSD card slot, which allows you to expand storage space. On the front of the device above the display HTC has equipped the Desire 616 with a two megapixel camera and on the backside, there is an eight megapixel camera. In case of the operating system it's quite surprising to see that HTC is using the more than one year old Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

To date it's unclear if the new phone is also going to be available in Europe.
