Mozilla stops development for Windows 8 interface

Say goodbye to Firefox touch

As of 2012, the Mozilla Foundation have offered beta version of its Firefox browser which was adapted for the new Windows 8 interface and since it did not hit the expected mark, Johnathan Nightingale, Vice President of Firefox, announced that they will not develop it any further.

In 2012, a beta version of the Firefox browser already features an adaptation for the new Microsoft interface (aka. The Metro, also known as the ModernUI) and after almost two year, an analysis of usage has showed that it struggled to reach thousands of users every day and thus, the company decided to stop the further development and push the workforce to more important sectors.

The few users which liked the touch aspect of the entire Windows environment (mostly those running on Surface tablets) will have to return to desktop version of the Firefox browser.
