New version of Valve gamepad coming

Evolution of the Steam Controller

Initially announced alongside the Steam Machine prototypes, the Valve Steam Controller has now been modified and redesigned and will be showcased at the Game Developers Conference 2014.

Valve has decided that the Game Developers Conference is the perfect place to showcase its future Steam Controller and it will be a perfect opportunity for games to test if the new controller is properly redesigned.

Valve has decided to ditch the central touchscreen and bring back the good old diamond placed buttons. The design has been also slightly reworked and it appears that Valve has taken a page from Microsoft Xbox 360 controller book which is probably one of the most popular controllers on the PC.

According to the report, ten of these models are prepared to be showcased at GDC and feedback from the GDC will allow Valve to do some final finishing touches to it before the official release of the Steam Machines.
