A popup for the end of Windows XP support

Software for migration as well

On April 8th, Microosft will stop all support for Windows XP And in order to notify the users which have not aware of the end of support, a popup will appear on the desktop explaining how to switch to a newer version. In addition to the popup, Microsoft will also offer a software solution which will help with migration without losing any data.

The Windows XP has been around for 14 years and since then, Microsoft has released several new OS versions, more or less welcomed, and last year the company has decided to announce the end of support for the Windows XP. A popup will appear on users desktops in order to provide them with information regarding upgrades to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.

In order to ease the pain, Microsoft has used Laplink company to provide software which will migrate data from one system to another or simply save them on an external media. The software, called the PCmover Express for Windows XP, will be provided free of charge and available at WindowsXP.com site by the end of the week. For those that simply like the software, Laplink will offer a 60 percent reduction for its PCmover Professional from €47,95 to €18

The Windows XP is now left with a single month of support and it is certain that there are a lot of users which are still attached to it. Being lightweight, reliable and perfect for systems stricken with age, made it a favorite OS for many users. It is still not clear if Microsoft will push users to a new version or just simply end the support for the Windows XP.
