Sapphire's upcoming R9 290X Vapor-X with 8GB pictured

Brings 8GB of RAM and a backplate

Videocardz.com managed to get their hands on a picture of the upcoming Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X graphics card which will feature no less than 8GB of GDDR5 memory, making it perfect for 4K/UHD and triple-monitor gaming setups.

While Sapphire's R9 290X Tri-X certainly packed quite a punch the 4GB of RAM on it held it back in certain scenarios, mostly when talking about 4K/UHD resolutions and Eyefinity multi-monitor setups. Based on a blue-on-black color scheme, the Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X packs 8GB of GDDR5 memory and aslo features a backplate which should keep the backside RAM chips cooled and offer more structural rigidity to the card.

Unfortunately, Sapphire is still holding out on all those precise details so we still do not know how far the factory-overclock is pushed, how much will it actually cost and when we could expect to see it on retail/e-tail shelves.
