Intel has released a new BIOS version for their tiny NUC PCs, which helps to make these devices compatible to Linux environments. Until today it was impossible to run Linux on Intel's NUC. Making these little boxes compatible to Linux definitely creates new opportunities for tech geeks.

At the beginning of this week Intel has added a new BIOS update for their NUC PCs in their download center. With this update the chip giant got rid of some boot issues related to Debian OS.

The guys from Arstechnica had a closer look at this topic in the meantime, and were able to install different versions of Linux, like for instance, Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora or even Steam OS on the NUC. In order to succeed doing so they had to modify the UEFI bootloader. The changes made to the bootloader also allowed the guys to directly control fan speeds as well, which is definitely a nice and needed add on.
