AMD shows Mullins APU Nano PC at CES 2014

Impressive reference platform for manufacturers

Next to their official announcement of the new Kaveri APUs AMD also showed quite an impressive reference platform for a nano PC, which is based on their Mullins APU.

Although it is quite impressively small and thin, about the size of the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, the reference platform based on the Mullins APU is designed to sit on top, or under the TV and runs on Windows 8.1. It also features a camera, 256GB SSD, Bluetooth, WiFi and DockPort connectivity. It also comes with an even smaller breakout box which provides it with HDMI and USB connectivity.

As far as the performance goes, AMD claims that it is enough to run both Windows and FIFA 14 at 1080p resolution without any problems. If turns out to be true, this little box might easily find its way to multiple manufacturers since AMD will not sell the Nano PC directly, but only offers it as a reference platform for other manufacturers.

Our first suspect would be Zotac, which already has some impressively small Nano PCs and this might be a match made in heaven.
