During CES 2014, which officially kicks off tomorrow at Las Vegas, Lenovo will be showing its newest and now officially announced, Thinkpad X1 Carbon notebook, which it calls the lightest 14-inch Ultrabook in the world, as well as the new ThinkPad 8, a premium 8-inch tablet.
Weighing in at 1.27kg (2.8lbs), Lenovo claims that the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is uncompromisingly light and virtually indestructible, calling it a beautiful contradiction. With the use of Carbon Fiber, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the world's lightest 14-inch Ultrabook. Lenovo also threw in its own Adaptive Keyboard which dynamically adjusts based on the software or application as well as offer voice and gesture control.
It also feature the new ColorBurst display which should provide sharper and brighter images as well as Rapid Charge technology for a battery that should offer 9 hour battery life. Unfortunately, Lenovo still did not reveal any other specifications regarding the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
In addition to the world's lightest Ultrabook, Lenovo also unveiled its new premium 8-inch tablet, the ThinkPad 8. Based on a 8.3-inch 1920x1200 screen, Intel's quad-core Bay Trail chip, up to 128GB of storage, microUSB 3.0 port, LTE2 connectivity, 8-megapixel camera, Windows 8 Pro experience, the new ThinkPad 8 will certainly be one of the most interesting Windows based tablets on the market.
According to Lenovo, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon will start at US $1299 and will begin shipping in late January. The ThinkPad 8 tablet will start shipping in late January with a start price at US $399.
