LG has announced that it will be showing a rather interesting new product at upcoming Consumer Electronics Show 2014, scheduled to start in Las Vegas on January 7th, the LG Chromebase, Chrome OS based All-in-One. While Chrome OS is definitely gaining popularity in cheap office notebooks and practically took over where netbooks once ruled, the use of Chrome OS in an AIO is definitely an interesting idea.
Based on Intel's Haswell Celeron CPU and build around a 21.5-inch 1920x1080p IPS screen certainly looks good on paper. It also packs 2GB of memory, 16GB of storage space and should pack a bit more punch than Ivy Bridge-based Celeron Chromebooks that have been flooding the market. We certainly like that LG went for a 1080p screen rather than skimp in that department, which also something that we do not like on most currently available Chromebooks.
The rest of the specifications and features include integrated WiFi, HDMI input, one USB 3.0 and three USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet and 1.3-megapixel 720p webcam as well as usual AIO goodies like matching keyboard, mouse and cable organizer.
The new LG Chromebase definitely looks interesting and we are certainly looking forward to see some hands-on impressions during CES 2014.
