ASUS announces ROG Poseidon GTX 780 graphics card

Officially unveiled

Although we already had a chance to see most, if not all, details regarding ASUS' latest Republic of Gamers member, the Poseidon GTX 780 and even see some reviews, ASUS has now officially announced the new graphics card as well as released a bit more details regarding the actual availability date.

In case you missed it earlier, the ASUS ROG Poseidon GTX 780 is ASUS' latest Republic of Gamers (ROG) graphics card based on Nvidia's GK110 GPU with 2304 CUDA cores and a new DirectCU H2O hybrid cooler, which is a standard dual-fan air cooler with optional water inputs for water cooling and should make the GPU up to 24°C cooler when compared to reference designs. Even on just air cooling, the ROG GTX 780 is up to 7°C cooler than reference designs.

ASUS also equipped the new ROG Poseidon GTX 780 with its own DIGI+ VRM with black metallic capacitors as well as dust-proof fans for increased card longevity, die-cast thermal armor for improved cooling in the crucial MOSFET area and bundled it with GPU Tweak. With stunning looks and LED backlit ROG logo, the new Poseidon GTX 780 is definitely one good looking graphics card.

The GPU got overclocked to 1006MHz while 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface ended up at 6008MHz. ASUS also made sure that there is plenty of additional overclocking headroom as well.

Although it still did not reveal any details regarding the price, ASUS did note that the new ROG Poseidon GTX 780 will start shipping worldwide from December, which means that we might see it in retail/e-tail pretty soon. We will surely keep an eye on it and report back as soon as we spot it in any store.
