According to the recent post over at Japanese Hermitage Akihabara, it appears that R9 290 might hit retail with US $450 ex. VAT price tag, which puts it at around US $100 lower than the Radeon R9 290X with similar specifications.
When price of the R9 290X is compared at Hermitage Akihabara, you can easily notice that the price difference between countries is roughly 18 percent which translates to around US $450 ex. VAT for the R9 290. Of course, taxes in Europe vary between 19 and 21 percent so you should add that as well in order to get the shelf price.
Expected to launch tomorrow, 5th of November, the R9 290 is based on the same Hawaii GPU as the flagship Radeon R9 290X and packs 2560 stream processors, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs as well as 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 512-bit memory interface. The clocks, at least for those that stick with reference ones, should be set at around 948MHz for the GPU and 5.0GHz for memory.
