During its Nvidia's Editors' Day in Monteral, Canada, Nvidia decided to announce quite a few interesting things including the new and exclusive Fur technology that should bring some realistic animals to certain games, its own GTX Holiday Bundle as well as the Nvidia FLEX, the new unified GPU PhysX technology.
The FLEX, as you can see from the introduction video below, will bring impressive physics calculations in real-time for water and cloth surfaces. It is practically a unified GPU PhysX system that will allow developers to do a combination of rigid body and fluid simulations at the same time.
The Nvidia Flex will be a part of what Nvidia calls the Nvidia Gameworks, a result of work from 300 visual effects engineers that ended up with "groundbreaking GameWorks library" and world-class developer tools. In addition to Nvidia Flex, the Gameworks also include the GI Works SDKs (Global Illumination Works) that will allow real-time global illumination in any scene of the game as well as the Flame Works SDK that will include a movie-quality volumetric effect in rendering flame and smoke.
The Nvidia GameWorks will be a part of many upcoming games including Batman: Arkham Origins, Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs, as well as the Star Citizen and many more.
