Acer has unveiled its new Acer C720 Chromebook that will not only be thinner and lighter than its predecessors but also be based on Intel's Haswell CPU that will bring even more performance and a longer battery life.
According to Acer, the new C720 Chromebook is a significant step in the Acer Chromebook line as it features "speedy performance, quck boot times, matte anti-glare screen and slimmer design" in order to make it as portable as ever. Powered by Intel's Celeron 2955U Haswell dual-core CPU that ticks at 1400MHz and packs 512KB of L2 and 2MB of L3 cache, the new Acer C720 Chromebook will pack decent performance and need 7 seconds to boot up thanks to SSD.
It is based around 11.6-inch anti-glare matte 1366x768 screen while it has been slimmed down to 0.75-inches, a 30 percent less than its predecessor. It also comes with 4GB of DDR3 L memory, 802.11bng WiFi. USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, webcam and all other features that you would expect from a standard Chrome OS running portable notebook. According to Acer, the battery should keep it running for up to 8.5 hours on a single charge.
According to Acer, the C720 Chromebook will first be available in the states in a 4GB memory and 16GB SSD configuration. It will be available at Amazon and Bestbuy with pre-order price of US $249.99.
