Valve has made a first announcement on the hardware that is going to be used in the upcoming Steam Box and so far, things are looking good that PC gaming could finally make it into the living room.
After Valve had already announced SteamOS, Joypad and Steam Machine, they're now detailing what hardware they're about to put into the upcoming Steam Box. Greg Coomer from Valve is writing on the company's Steam blog, there should be a Steam box tailored to every gamers needs.
In other words Valve's gaming machine for the living room can be bought with a wide variety of NVIDIA cards, such as the GTX Titan, GTX 780, GTX 760 as well as GTX 660. When it comes to CPU's, users can choose from Intel Core i7, i5 and i3 processors. In case of memory the systems ship with up to 16 Gigabyte. On the storage side, there will be a hybrid SSHD with 1 Terabyte diskspace and 8 GB NAND flash. The power supply part will be handled by a 450W unit, which got 80 Plus certified.
It really looks like Valve wants to make an appealing offer to all gamers out there. So far there is still no information on the chassis used and there are also not details on pricing.
