E-tailers around the world have started to take pre-orders for the AMD Radeon R9 290X Battlefield 4 Edition bundle that features the brand new Radeon R9 290X as well as the Battlefield 4 Premium copy of the game that includes an early access to the game as well as future expansion packs.
The bundle comes directly from AMD and does not include any badges from partners and although there is still no details regarding the price, Sweidsh e-tailer Webhallen.com lists it for 7,299 SEK (inc. tax), which converts to US $1,145, way higher than anyone expected. The same store also notes that pre-orders will ship out on 11th of October.
Although the specs are still not officially confirmed, most rumors agree on 28nm Hawaii GPU with 2816 stream processors, 176 TMUs, 64 ROPs and 4GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 512-bit memory interface. The clocks are set at 800MHz base and 1000MHz Boost for the GPU while memory ended up at 1250MHz (5GHz effective). It needs 8+6-pin PCI-Express power connector and has support for DirectX 11.2, OpenGL 4.2 as well as AMD's Mantle API and TrueAudio features.
It is quite clear that some e-tailers are looking to score on early pre-orders and we honestly doubt that the price will go that high, even with BF4 Edition so it should pay off to wait for just a while.
