According to IDC

According to IDC, the total annual shipments will tilt in favor of tablets by the end of 2015 and by that time IDC predicts that the total of connected smart devices shipped with reach an incredible two billion units, with market value of staggering US $735 billion.

Smartphones will of course be the star of the portable market and their market share of 65.1% in the 2013 is expected to sore to 70.1% by 2017. The main reason behind the large growth of the smartphone market is attributed to the increasing popularity of low-cost devices.
