As expected and rumored earlier due to recent price cuts for currently selling Playstation Vita, Sony has announced the refreshed version, the PCH-2000, of their own Sony Playstation Vita hand-held console at its press event in Japan.
The new console is a mere 15mm thick which makes it around 20 percent slimmer than the older one and it weighs just 219 grams, which also makes it 15 percent lighter than the old one. Despite being on diet, the new PS Vita has a new battery that boost the battery for another hour, for a total of six hours.
Specification wise, the new PS Vita also gets 1GB of storage, micro-USB port as well as "all-new" LED LCD screen that replaces the OLED one found in the old PS Vita. It will also be available in a couple of new color options, including white, black, blue, yellow, pink, and olive green.
Although it did not shed any light regarding the availability of the new PS Vita in the US and Europe, it did note that the new PS Vita will be available in Japan on October 10th for 18,980 yen (around US $190).
