Kingston has announced a new addition to its line of solid state drives, the enterprise-class SSDNow E50. Aimed at businesses and organizations that do not require the heavy endurance needs to obtain the same enterprise-level of performance as the Kingston SSDNow E100 but at a much more cost-effective price point.
The new SSDNow E50 comes with enterprise-level SSD performance that are needed in task like data caching, frequently accessed data within applications, online transactional processing and virtualization performance. as well as helps in improvement of I/O latencies and server bottlenecks by providing greater IOPS and higher bandwidth performance.
To ship in a 2.5-inch, 7mm form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface and 100, 240 and 480GB capacities, the new SSDNow E50 is based on Sandforce SF-2581 controller, features AES 128-bit encryption and provide sequential read and write speeds of up to 550 and 530MB/s for the 100 and 240GB versions and up to 530 and 500 for the 480GB model.
The maximum 4k read and write performance is set at 85k/80k IOPS for the 100GB model, 85k/73k IOPS for the 240GB one and 74k/36k IOPS for the 480GB one. The new SSDNow E50 also comes with enterprise SMART tools, has an average power consumption of up to 1.31W, life expectancy of 1 million hours MTBF and comes with a three year warranty.
Unfortunately, Kingston did not shed any light regarding the actual price or the availability date for the new SSDNow E50.
