Today pictures of the upcoming MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning have leaked. This time it was HardwareZone that published pics of the card, which is still under NDA and WCCFTech managed to grab them, before HardwareZone had to take the fotos offline again. The pictures show the power design, the box as well as the cooler of this upcoming monster.
A closer look at the cooler reveals, that there are two fin stacks, which are there to remove the heat from no less than seven 8 millimeter heatpipes. In total, there are three fans, whereas the ones on the outside of the cooler measer 100 millimeter in diameter and the one in the center is a 70 millimeter. Via a software all fans can be adjusted individually. Apart from that there is a badge with LED backlight, which can change color according to load. With such a high-end card, you obviously also get a decent back-plate.
Underneath this huge and impressive cooler, there is a true beast of a PCB. When it comes to 8-Pin PCIe connectors, there are two, which provide juice to a total of 20 phases. Obviously MSI has put a digital power design on this PCB and there are high current chokes, tantalum capacitors as well as MSI's GPU Reactore module.
Another great addition are the memory chips. It looks like their capable of doing their job a 7 GHz, which would make this card quite a bit faster than all the other 780's around. Apart from that, there are three BIOS, where the first one has fall-back settings stored, the second is the air OC BIOS and the third is the LN2 BIOS, which turns off all kinds of limitations.
MSI is about to launch the GTX 780 Lighning on the 28th of August 2013. At that point, the card will retail for about 800 US-Dollar. Not only will it be one of the most expensive GTX 780 cards, it will certainly be one of the fastest.
