Xbox One to allow external video capture

But only for gameplay

According to info taken from an interview with Microsoft's Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer with Polygon site, Xbox One will let users capture their gameplay via external recording devices.

Phil Spencer noted that it will work exactly as it works today on the Xbox 360 and that it will be possible to capture your gameplay by plugging an external recording device to console's HDMI port. Of course, due to HDCP system, Xbox One will disable unauthorized copying or recording of any other content, or in Phil Spencer's words, “If all you care about is getting the gameplay, you’re fine.".

In case you missed it earlier, Xbox One will be able to save five minutes of previous gameplay to system allowing users to edit, share it and post it online.
