Google unveils Chromecast at its event

In addition to the already rumored new Nexus 7 and the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Google managed to surprise the entire community by launching the new Chromecast, a US $35 price 2-inch long smart HDMI stick that integrates all Google's services as well as allow you to share connect from various devices to your Chromecast connected TV.

As noted, the Chromecast plugs in your free HDMI input on the TV and thanks to integrated WiFi connects to any Android or iOS device and is able to share content from any service including Youtube, Play Music, Play Video and even the Chrome on smartphone tablet or notebook. For example, Chromecast is able to put a Youtube video on your TV by a simple click on a Chromecast button.

Chromecast can even switch on your TV if its off and find the right input source for itself, queue videos from multiple paired devices, and even supports Youtube, Google Play Movies and updated Netflix app. It can also control volume via mobile device, skip videos and switch between devices.

As far as the notebook support goes, Chromecast can show your Chrome tabs on your TV, browse photos on Google+ and even watch video on Vimeo, although still in beta.

Spec wise, Chromecast is based on a Marvell DE3005 chip and Azurewave hardware for 2GHz WiFi.

Google plans to launch the new Google Cast SDK for Android, iOS and Chrome on Windows, Mac OS and Chrome OS which will allow third party developers to add new features.

Google's Chromecast will first show up in the US as of July 28th and can be already pre-ordered from Google Play while rest of the world should get it pretty soon, according to Google.
