As expected, Google has now officially announced its new Google Nexus 7 tablet that will be thinner, lighter and feature a much better screen when compared to its older predecessor.

As rumored earlier, new Nexus 7 2 still features the same size 7-inch IPS panel but with a much higher 1920x1200 resolution that add up to 323ppi (pixel per inch) and promises a 30% wider color gamut. The screen is not the only update as the new Nexus 7 got the same chipset previously seen in the Nexus 4, Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro with quad-core Krait CPU clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

While display kept the same size, Google was keen to note that the new Nexus 7 was slimmed down as Asus managed make it 1.8mm thinner, shave 2.8mm of bezels on both sides and reduce the weight by 50g. In case you wonder, the precise dimensions are set at 114.3x200.6x7.6mm, bezels are now at 2.75mm and it weighs 317.5g.

The rest of the specs include 5-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front camera, dual-band WiFi (802.11abgn), Bluetooth 4.0, HDMI output via SlimPort, stereo speakers, NFC and Qi-compatible wireless charging support and 4G LTE support. It runs on a brand new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS and feature a battery that should be enough to keep it alive for 9 hours of video playback and 10 hours of web-surfing, according to Google.

Google will launch three versions of the new Nexus 7, WiFi-only with 16 and 32GB of storage as well as a single 4G LTE capable unlocked model that will first launch in the US and work on any LTE network, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. The price is set at US $229 and $269 for WiFi-only 16 and 32GB versions while the 4G LTE one will set you back at US $349.

As expected, the new Google Nexus 7 will launch on July 30th in the US while Google claim it will be available for the rest of the world in the week after the July 30th. The list of countries include the UK, Germany, France, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Australia and Canada.
