As it is the case with most companies in the PC industry, AMD is also getting beat up as it reported Q2 revenue of US $1.16 billion with US $74 million net loss. This translates to an 18 percent fall in revenue and 40 percent fall in gross margin year-on-year.
Rory Read, AMD president and CEO, noted that the focus on restructuring and transforming the company resulted in improved financial results and the performance of in the second quarter was driven by opportunities in new high-growth and traditional PC businesses. According to Read, AMD expects significant revenue rise and should return to profitability in the next quarter with revenue increase of around 20 percent.
AMD is not doing bad as those "holy trinity" console deals should bring significant revenue boost, of course if all goes well.
