Nvidia's Shield and Nvidia's decision to sell the new hand-held console by itself certainly did not help and it definitely was not an easy ride on its way to market. With a couple of delays, it appears that it should finally ship by the end of this month.
Although it already supposed to ship to those that pre-ordered it a while back, Nvidia had to delay its Tegra 4 powered hand-held console but at least was sorry enough to drop the price by US $50. In case you missed it, the delay in question was a result of late discovery of a mechanical issue that was blamed on third pary component provider. The delay also brought the aforementioned US $50 price cut that put the console down to a bit more reasonable US $299.
In case you missed it before, the Nvidia Shield is built around a gaming-grade controller and a flip-up 5-inch 1280x720 screen. The heart of it is the Nvidia Tegra 4 chip clocked at 1.9GHz paired up with 2GB of RAM. It also features 16GB of internal storage expandable by microSD card slot, special audio with stereo bass reflex, 802.11n 2x2 MIMO WiFi and a 28.8Whr battery.
In any case, we certainly hope that Nvidia will actually manage to launch it by the end of the month as we do want to see some reviews of the new Nvidia Shield.
