Bethesda gives insight on next-gen consoles

Xbox One is good, cross-platform is a nightmare

In an interview for OXM.co.uk, Bethesda's VP Pete Hines noted that both Xbox One and Playstation 4 are structured like beefy gaming PCs and that development for these consoles is not easy but certainly much easier than it was when consoles were not based on the same chip.
While talking about the work on the new The Elder Scrolls Online MMO for all three platforms, Hines noted that cross-platform development is practically still a nightmare since PC and Mac platforms play well together while both Xbox One and PS4 has their own thing making cross-platform development quite difficult. According to Hines, The Elder Scrolls Online will have separate servers for each platform in order to avoid technical problems.

When asked about Xbox One, Hines noted that it is a nice robust machine that allows them to do a lots of cools stuff and put some cool things in the game.

The upcoming Elder Scrolls Online MMO will certainly be one of those games that we will keep our eye on as it promises some great things.
