Not too expensive, not too cheap

Display with 21:9 format might become more popular in the future and especially enthusiasts might enjoy these panels in the upcoming years. With the MX299Q, ASUS has an offer, which they first presented during CES this year and meanwhile the display got listed and therefore got a price.

Officially ASUS recommended to sell this display for 599 US-Dollar. Meanwhile there are first offers, which list the MX299Q for 459 Euro, which is therefore ok. The display should be available from mid July onwards.

ASUS decided to equip the MX299Q with an IPS panel, which offers a resolution von 2'560 x 1'080 pixel. Additionally there is an LED backlight. The combination is good for true colors as wells as great viewing angle stability. A look at the backside of the display, shows that there is a DVI, an HDMI as well as a DisplayPort. Something else, that is definitely worth mentioning is the design of this product. Since it's frameless on three edges and on the bottom edge there is a thin trim list made from aluminium the thing just looks great.
