Mushkin announces Scorpion Deluxe PCIe SSD

During the announcement for its Pacific Rim Sweepstakes, Mushkin has also officially announced its new Scorpion PCI-Express based solid state drive aimed at multimedia designers and other professional usage scenarios.

Based on quad Sandforce SF-2281 controllers with un-throttled IOPS performance, the Mushkin Scorpion Deluxe SSD will be available in 240, 480, 960 and 1920GB capacities. It uses PCI-Express 2.0 x8 interface and will offer performance of up to 2150MB/s read and up to 2000MB/s write, depending on the model. The 4k random performance is set at up to 87000 IOPS read and up to 107000 IOPS write.

According to Mushkin, the Scorpion PCI-Express SSD was designed to offer multimedia designers maximum performance and a scalable 4-way format. Aimed at those that need an insane amount of image data that can be accessed with blazing-fast read and write speeds.

The new Mushkin Scorpion PCIe SSD will be backed by three years of warranty and available as of mid-June at yet to be announced price.
