An alleged picture of AMD's upcoming HD 8970 have been leaked online and although it does not like anything we have seen so far, the rumor and picture should be taken with a grain of salt.
The picture has been leaked by 4Chan site, and according to it, we are looking at the Radeon HD 8970 graphics card based on the 28nm Curacao XT GPU with 2304 stream processors, 48 ROPs and 3GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 384-bit memory interface. The GPU should work at 1GHz while memory should be clocked at 6.5GHz. The rumored TDP is set at around 250W and should be priced at around US $550, making it around US $100 cheaper than Nvidia's GTX 780.
It feature 8+6-pin PCI-Express power connectors and uses dual slot, dual-fan cooler. The recent rumor regarding AMD's new reference coolers might be true as in this case we can see a large heatsink paired up with two fans, rather than a blower-style cooler.
According to that same report, AMD's might be officially announcing it at E3 Expo show which officially kicks off tomorrow.
