Just a few days before the official April 24th launch date we can see, what appears to a legit slides that show both the precise specifications as well as performance figures for the upcoming Radeon HD 7990 Malta graphics card.
As rumored earlier, the HD 7990 Malta will be based on fully enabled Tahiti XT chips with 2048 stream processors and 384-bit memory interface, for each GPU. According to the leaked slide, the GPUs should be clocked at 1GHz and will feature a total of 6GB of GDDR5 memory (3GB per GPU) clocked at 6GHz.
The set of leaked slides also shows performance of the upcoming HD 7990 Malta when compared to Nvidia's GTX 690 and GTX Titan. AMD usually uses its own graphics cards for performance comparison but these leaked might be meant for retail/e-tail. According to slides, the HD 7990 should be 16 percent faster than the GTX 690 and about 29 percent faster than the GTX Titan, at least in the 3DMark Fire Strike performance benchmark. In the 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme, the HD 7990 is 15 percent faster than the GTX 690 and 31 percent faster than the GTX Titan.
Of course, official performance slides are usually best case scenario results and we'll leave our judgment when we see performance figures from some game titles.
