Almost ten years ago, Intel released the magnificent Core2 Quad Q6600 in order to fight against the AMD Phenom 9600. The C2Q Q6600 has been on the market for several years and Intel has sold a lot of units due to the very good performance/price ratio of this CPU.

The C2Q Q6600 was based on socket LGA775 and DDR2 memory, the base clock was set to 2.40GHz with a TDP of 105W. After almost a decade, Intel is able to unveil a Pentium Silver CPU with the same performance and only a TDP of 10W. The Pentium Silver J5005 is based on Gemini Lake "Goldmont Plus" architecture, as a successor to Bay Trail, Braswell, and Apollo Lake parts.

The Pentium J5005 is a quad-core CPU like the old but gold C2Q Q6600. The base clock is set to 1.50GHz and the Turbo speed is set to 2.80GHz. The user dylan522 from /r/hardware has tested both CPUs in PassMark CPU benchmark. As you can imagine, the Pentium Silver J5005 overtakes by few points the C2Q Q6600. Since the J5005 processor packs an UHD Graphics 605 IGP, we are rather curious to see the performance of this IGP compared to mid-range GPU from 2007.
