NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than the usual SATA drive. Mushkin has unveiled a new series of M.2 SSDs which goes by the name Pilot and it's built on NVMe 1.3 protocol.
The new Pilot NVMe series of SSDs is going to be available with 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacity and uses 3D TLC NAND memory. Like most NVMe SSDs out today, the Pilot NVMe SSD makes use of the M.2 2280 form factor and NVMe 1.3 protocol. Mushkin's Pilot sports a new Marvell SM2262EN controller in order to ensure better performance as well as a higher TBW rating.
Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should achieve up to 2'700MB/s and 1'755MB/s in the case of sequential writes. According to the manufacturer, the Pilot series has an endurance rating of 2 million hour MTBF. All the drives are backed by a 3 years of warranty plan.
So far Mushkin has not revealed any details on pricing and availability regarding their Pilot SSDs.
