Meanwhile Intel has finally launched their 8th Gen Coffee Lake processors alongside the Z370 platform. For overclockers this means they can get their hands on a bunch of new hardware, which always something exciting. Overclocker "der8auer" has already posted a max CPU-Z score showing a Core i7-8700K running at 7.3 GHz using the ROG Maximus X Apex motherboard, and the overclocker "Hocayu" managed to set a new DDR4 memory record using the same board.
So far the maximum CPU frequency with a Core i7-8700K has been achieved by Chinese overclocker "Kovan Yang", but nevertheless "der8auer" is kind of on his toes using the ROG Maximus X Apex. The difference between the two scores is anything but small, but we expect to see more records and attempts during the upcoming days and weeks. Meanwhile, Hocayu managed to set a new DDR4 world record using the ROG Maximus X Apex and G.Skill DDR4-4600 16GB memory. Hocayu pushed the memory frequency all the way up to 5529.2MHz, which is a very impressive value.
Speaking about 3D performance, we see a world record from the italian overclocker "Rsannino". Roberto pushed has his Core i7-8700K running at 7 GHz and paired with the STRIX GTX 1080Ti, he managed to score 73'519 marks in 3DMark06. Due to the shortage of these CPUs, there aren't many scores around but we believe that during next few days or weeks we will see plenty of new overclocking records.
