With the X299M-A Pro, MSI introduces the first MSI X299 micro-ATX motherboard, which is only compatible with the Intel’s Core i5-7640X and i7-7740X. Like the name suggests, the X299M-A Pro doesn't belong to the vendor’s Gaming series.
The layout is quite simple and the PCB has been equipped with three full-sized PCIe 3.0 x16 slots. The motherboard sports a black color scheme with probably a few RGB LEDs. In our opinion the layout looks suitable for compact workstations or gamers who don't want a rainbow inside their gaming PCs. On top of that, the motherboard comes with four DIMM slots.
There are eight SATA ports and they have all been angled. Apart from that you get two M.2 slots allowing the installation of differently sized SSDs. The first M.2 slot is placed between the first and the second PCIe 3.0 slots and it's compatible with 22110 units, while the second one is on the right edge, close to the 24-pin connector also supporting 22110 units.
Since this model doesn't belong to the Gaming series, there aren't any bells and whistles like onboard buttons or plastic I/O cover. The motherboard is expected to be priced around USD 170$.
