Ryzen Threadripper overclocked to 5.2 GHz

16 core and 32 thread madness

It appears that the Capsaicin SIGGRAPH 2017 was quite an event with AMD not just showing news parts but also demonstrating them. On the overclocking side of things our good friend Tudor “Monstru” Badica from Lab501 appears to have had quite some “monstrous” fun overclocking on one of the Ryzen Threadripper bad boys to 5.2 GHz, destroying some Cinebench scores.

Monstru demonstrated live what a 16 core and 32 thread Ryzen Threadripper CPU is capable of in Cinebench. Already the Ryzen processors have shown to pack quite a punch when it comes to this particular benchmark. Throwing even more cores and threads at this benchmark will make the scores scale skywards, especially when the chips receives a massive overclock and LN2 cooling.

At a multiplier of 52 and 100 MHz bus speed 5.2 GHz were the result, which was good enough to score 4122 Points in Cinebench R15. The memory was set to DDR4-2133 and unfortunately there are no precise details on the core voltage, since the CPU-z read-out appears not to be trustworthy with showing only 1.16 V.

We like it that already at launch day Ryzen Threadripper can be overclocked significantly. This attests the platform credibility in the overclocking scene and is a good sign that the platform as a whole will do a reliable job a stock clocks.
