Plextor unveils new M8Se NVMe SSD

Up to 1 TB of capacity

NVMe capable SSDs are growing increasingly popular these days, offering much higher transfer speeds than your usual SATA drive. New markets always offer new opportunities and that on the other hand means that different vendors will launch new products. Plextor is one of those having presented their new M8Se NVMe SSD during CES 2017.

The new Plextor M8Se NVMe SSD should be available with 120GB, 240GB, 480GB and 1TB capacity. Since this SSD is based on TLC NAND flash memory its price should be rather competitive and performance is supposed to be somewhere in the mid-tier compared to other NVMe drives.

Talking about performance, sequentially reading these drives should hit up to 2'450MB/s and 1'000MB/s for sequentially writing. In the case of random performance it’s supposed to reach 210,000 IOPS for read and up to 175,000 IOPS for 4k writes.

The M8Se NVMe SSD will be available with M.2 form factor and on half-height PCIe add-in cards. Apart from that Plextor covers these drives with 3 years of warranty.
