BIOSTAR shows new Z270 motherboards

More Kaby Lake boards incoming

On their official Facebook page, BIOSTAR have shown a little preview regarding their upcoming next generation Intel Z270 motherboards. At the moment there is only a little teaser which shows a few features of the BIOSTAR Racing series. However, thanks to the GGF Lan Party Facebook page, we also found a picture about from the high-end model, which is part of the same series.

According to the image, it looks like this board is based on an ATX form-factor and there are for instance four DIMM slots. The PCB seems crowded, which means, there are a lot of additional chips and extra buttons, indicating that this is supposed to be a high-end Z270 motherboard. Having a closer look, we find a M.2 slot, a shroud covering the I/O and a heatsink with carbon looks.

Apart from that there are six PCIe 3.0 slots. This BIOSTAR Racing motherboard comes with an Intel LAN chip. Regarding connectivity, we find six SATA and two U.2 port. The heatsink on the PCH is quite big and maybe a PLX chip is hidden underneath it so there would be enough PCI Express lanes wired to all those full-length PCIe slots. Biostar has also added some yellow LEDs to the I/O area as well as to the heatsinks.

The picture also shows a part of the I/O panel as well. Although it is not complete we can guess which ports there are. Biostar appears to equip this board with one PS2 mouse/keyboard connector, two USB 3.1 ports (1 x type A and 1 x type C), four USB 3.0 ports, one gigabit ethernet port, an optical out and an analogue audio panel.

If you are thinking about buying a new PC or just a motherboard, which is based on Intel’s Z-series chipset, we’d suggest to wait a few weeks since it appears that the launch of Kaby Lake and Intel Z270 is just around the corner. At the moment there aren't any new details but we are sure that other manufacturers will show little previews as well.
