The Devil Box was first announced in May this year and apparently it took the company rather long until they finally have it ready. Nevertheless it looks like the Devil Box is going to be available as of mid December.
With a product that was first shown more than six months ago, a few details have already been around. What’s been updated in the meantime is that the Devil Box supports Intel Thunderbolt 3 as well as USB Type-C, which means you can connect it to any recent notebook or mini-PC in order to boost its 3D performance.
PowerColor isn’t the first one to come up with an external case for graphics cards. A few months back Razer announced their so called Razer Core enclosure, offering the same functionality. According to the product page PowerColor’s Devil Box is compatible with AMD Radeon RX 400 series and R9 series as well as with Nvidia GeForce GTX 10 series and 900 series graphics cards. This already means that you can use the Devil Box with almost any recent GPU as long as you want to plug a dual slot card inside that isn’t longer than 310 millimeters. The only limitations there are is set to the size of the graphics card since the space available make it only compatible with 2-slot GPU with a max length of 310 millimeters. Inside the unit there is a 500W power supply that is suitable for any up-to-date graphics card.
The rear part of the box also comes with a set of useful connectors. There are four USB 3.0, one USB 3.1 Type -C, one Thunderbolt 3 and one Ethernet 10/100/1000 port. The PowerColor Devil Box is to cost $375 MSRP and should become available during this month.
