Toshiba unveils new performance OCZ VX500 SSDs

Toshiba Electronic Europe (TEE) has announced its newest OCZ VX500 performance SSD series that will feature Toshiba controller, 15nm MLC NAND and come in a standard 2.5-inch form-factor with SATA 6Gbps interface.

As noted, the new OCZ VX500 is based on Toshiba's TC358790 controller, paired up with 15nm MLC flash NAND memory. To be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, OCZ promises that the new VX500 SSD series will offer price/GB which is comparable to popular TLC NAND based SSDs but with a performance of standard MLC NAND SSD.

According to details provided by OCZ, the new VX500 series will offer sequential read performance of up to 550MB/s for read on all four models, while the sequential write goes from 485MB/s on the 128GB model, 510MB/s on the 256GB one and 515MB/s on both the 512GB and 1TB models.

The random 4K performance reaches 90,000 IOPS for read and up to 65,000 IOPS for write. Reaching 74 to 592 TBW endurance rating, depending on the model, the new Toshiba OCZ VX500 series is backed by a 5-year Advanced Warranty Program and comes bundled with Acronis TrueImage cloning software.

The price for the new OCZ VX500 SSD series is set at US $63.99 for the 128GB, US $92.79 for the 256GB, US $152.52 for the 512GB and US $337.06 for the 1TB model.
